Why Waiting Isn’t Always Better: The Rise of the Living Farewell

You will notice on my website that I offer a ‘Pre-Need Service’ and in recent months, the UK has seen a significant shift in how we approach the end of life. Data discussed by the AOIC (March 2026) suggests that "Living Funerals" or "Living Celebrations" are no longer a fringe concept but a growing preference for those with terminal diagnoses or the elderly.
The core idea is simple but profound: why wait until someone is gone to say the things that matter most? As a celebrant, I am seeing more families choose to gather while their loved one can still hear the stories, laugh at the memories in person. This aligns with the AOIC’s recent push for "Personalised Planning" initiatives, encouraging people to take agency over their own narratives before they pass.
